Pest control based on the “mass trapping” of target pests is also widely used and has been significantly improved using chemical attractants i.e.: insect pheromones, etc.
This method known as “Lure & Kill” has in many crops become an integral part of (IPM) “Integrated Pest Management”. It is based on using the chemical attractants to lure the target pest to the trap and either preventing the trapped pest from exiting it or including a slow release pesticide inside which kills the pest.
